“ACTA’s advice to Furman on the necessity of university boards – not faculty or students – being the final decision makers in presidential search choices has applicability to all of our AFSA chapters. Faculty Senate and student leaders are loudly declaring they must not just participate in the search committee but that their choice should prevail. The boards are much better equipped to objectively assess the optimal choice given their members’ diverse backgrounds, not partisan faculty or students lacking in real world experience.”
